Seek Peace and Pursue It

seek-peace-and-pursue-it-3

The world is chaotic. There’s evil all around us. It’s hard to do good when all you see is bad. We see bad things happening on the news. We hear of bad things happening on the radio. We read about bad things going on in our local newspapers. How can I have peace when negativity surrounds me? Well, I’m learning in my pursuit of peace that I have to be intentional. I have to intentionally create peace in my environment and if people around are not in alignment with that then I have to let them go. Sure there’s bad things going on all around me but I have to be intentional about what I will allow myself to focus on.

I was standing outside on my porch the other day. The sun was shining so beautifully and it wasn’t too hot. It was an awesome day. The birds began to fly around the trees, chirping so delightful and then here came the butterflies that added to the scene. They were alluring with their magical colors, sending off vibrations of joy. Oh my God, then here came the wasps to the left of me attempting to kill my vibe. I don’t know what their motives were. I guess they just wanted to be a pest or maybe they were looking to find somewhere around my porch to build their nest; however, I had to make a decision. What do I focus on? Do I focus on the birds and butterflies that calmed my mind and spirit? Or do I focus on the wasp to the left of me that was making me panic because I’m afraid of them and their stings hurt?

These are the same decisions we have to make on our spiritual journeys. Do I focus on my pain? Do I focus on my circumstances that do not look too good right now? Do I keep my mind in darkness and allow anxiety to control my life? Or will I seek peace and pursue it? Will I trust the one ( God) who promised me if I keep my mind stayed on him that he would keep me in perfect peace. I think the answer is YES to these questions. Completely Yes, Right?!

I desire peace and because of this desire I will search for it on my job, in my home, in my marriage, in my friendships and in my mind. I will follow peace and chase it down. I will speak peace in my atmosphere. I will decree it over my life. God tells me in Philippians 4:7 that his peace transcends all understanding. This means his peace is beyond  human comprehension. It means that his peace is mind blowing. All I have to do to get this peace is to make my request known to him. So if you like myself are in the process of attaining peace in your life, let’s make our petitions known right now….

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, we worship you and adore you. You are the prince of peace. You are Jehovah Shalom- The Lord of Peace and we love you and thank you for being the center of our peace. Father God you told us in your word that we should not be anxious for nothing, not about what we see, what we hear nor what we read. It’s a privilege Father God to bring everything to you in prayer. All of our worries, all of our needs, all of our desires and we thank you for that God. Now we ask that you will consume our hearts and minds with peace. With so much peace Father God that we can’t even comprehend it. Blow our minds with your peace. We love you Lord and we are so grateful and we count it done in Jesus’s name. Amen!!!
