Bartimaeus Faith

For we walk by faith and not by sight….

As I conclude my message on faith, enduring faith, now faith; I remember Bartimaeus. Bartimaeus was the son of Timaeus and one of the two blind beggars of Jericho. Many are very familiar with his story. I personally find it amazing that Jesus was able to miraculously give him sight based on his strong faith.

Bartimaeus could not see a thing. He could only hear. As he sat by the road begging, he began to hear loud noises of cheer, praise and worship. He wondered what in the world was going. What had this crowd in such uproar? When he finally decided to ask, they told him that Jesus was passing by. The bible tells us that in this particular moment Bartimaeus cried out for God to have mercy on him. Bartimaeus was desperate ya’ll. Like many of us he was tired of his situation. He was tired of living mediocre. He knew that in order for him to start living the life that he had imagined, to start living the life that he had always dreamed about, the life that he was praying for , he had to take action. He was convinced that he had to put his faith to work. Even though the others who went before him tried to discourage him and talk him out of it, he went forth anyway. And guess what? God saw his passion. God saw his desires. God looked past the fact that he was a begger and he heard his cry. God answered his call. Bartimaeus made his petition known and his request was granted. God gave him sight. Why? Because his faith had made him well. His faith had caused him to believe even when his circumstances showed him something  totally different. So I challenge you today as I challenge myself to start exercising your faith even more in order for us to see all of the things that God can do for us too. If we want different results, we need to seek God in a different way.

If you would like to read the story of Bartimaeus you can check it out in Luke 18:35-42 or Mark 10:46-52. Also tune in later this week as I wrap up my Bible Study on the book of James ( Chapters 3, 4 & 5).

Hi everyone. I'm Nekitta Sutton. I've experienced major disappointments, setbacks and losses in life. During those times I had to hold on to my faith and find strength to continue on. Through the trials and sufferings I realized that I was more than a conqueror, I was a survivor. I began to gain knowledge and grow as a person by activating my faith and reading God's word. My hopes are to encourage the masses so that you will be able to regain control over your life and start living again as well. It takes a lot of work and can sometimes be painful but I do know that it's possible and well worth it.
