Ephesians 4:31-32 ” Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Forgiveness is a very important aspect of healing. While healing is important in the process of finding your purpose and becoming the person God has called you to be. When we come to a place of forgiveness we have to make a conscience decision to be intentional. Being intentional meaning that we intentionally decide to let go of feelings of offense, vengefulness and any other negative emotions that we may be harboring in our hearts towards people we feel have done us wrong. Forgiveness is not to benefit the other person. It is for our own personal growth, peace and happiness. Holding on to past hurts and past pains keeps one in a stagnate position. We are unable to move toward our future because our minds and hearts are still stuck in the past. God wants us to be free. He wants us to experience unspeakable joy and the newness of life; however, it’s hard to do that when we are full of anger, bitterness and resentment. When we forgive, we take our power back. Forgiveness is just another step towards regaining control of your life and learning to live again.
So I encourage you today to say your prayer of forgiveness over and over again. Then declare out of your mouth: I forgive ____________ for______________ until your mind and heart begin to change.
